David Mainzer is a corporate lawyer with more than 25 years of experience advising investment management firms and funds, both in-house and in private practice. He frequently serves as outside general counsel for his clients, handling an array of domestic and offshore corporate, transactional, and regulatory compliance matters. Earlier in his career, David served as General Counsel and Chief Operating Officer of Amerindo Investment Advisors, Inc., an investment management firm with offices in New York, San Francisco, and London, and $8 billion in assets under management (AUM). There, he was responsible for managing all of the firm’s legal affairs, including risk management, regulatory compliance, outside counsel, and the structuring and legal management of the firm’s hedge funds, mutual funds, and separately managed accounts. David attended law school at the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia, where he also completed his undergraduate degree in accounting. He earned his MBA at Columbia Business School in New York, where he graduated first in his class. He is a veteran of the U.S. Army.
